COURSE TITLE:
SITE SELECTION/NEGOTIATION/LAW EVNT 1100
NUMBER OF HOURS:
30 - 40 Hours
DESCRIPTION:
This course outlines the key elements to successful site selection, negotiation issues/techniques, contract provisions/analysis & diverse industry contracts. Legal issues unique to the meeting industry will be identified.
OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the specific roles of the event organizer and venue sales person and be able to work with third-party planners and suppliers
- Select an appropriate event venue for a client
- Use prospecting to find and grow your business
- Determine meeting space requirements for meetings, events and trade shows
- Identify and plan for various room sets, depending on the event
- Discuss the contract and outline each clause found in a contract
- Analyze audio visual considerations
- Prepare for city-wide events, international bookings and multi-year events
GRADING CRITERIA:
Successful completion of all reviews, activities and quizzes. You will receive a welcome letter from your instructor which will include greater details of grading criteria.
COURSE OUTLINE:
Each Lesson includes an online review and may also include application activities. These activities will ask you to complete independent research and application, consider various ideas, or discuss and share insights with friends or family. There is a final comprehensive exam.

Final Exam
COURSE ACTIVITIES AND ASSIGNMENTS:
The maximum time to complete this course, if not included in your welcome letter, will be sent to you by your instructor. To be completed in that time: 7 quizzes, 5 activities, and 1 final exam. The final exam is 50 questions long and can be completed within two hours. All reviews, exercises and other assignments are submitted electronically to your instructor with results returned via email.
